Central Library

Article 1

The Night Reading Room of the Central Library of Palacky University in Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as the "Night Reading Room") is opened for internal users of all parts of the Library of the Palacky University in Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as the "UP Library") as defined in Article 2, paragraph 2 of the Library Rules of Palacky University in Olomouc (B1-12/4-HN general standard, hereinafter referred to as the "Library Rules") to study outside the daily opening hours of the Central Library of Palacky University in Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as the "Central Library").

The opening hours of the Night Reading Room are as follows: Monday to Thursday: 10 pm to 6 am; Friday: 7 pm to 6 am. The Night Reading Room is not open on Sundays or public holidays.

The Night Reading Room is located on the ground floor of the Central Library ("Zbrojnice") at Biskupské náměstí 1, Olomouc.

Access to the Night Reading Room is allowed only to internal users of the UP Library as defined in Article 6, paragraph 1 of the Library Rules, who have a library card as referred to in Article 5, paragraph 9 of the Library Rules (hereinafter referred to as the "Library Card") which is used as a key card for the access-controlled door in the Night Reading Room.

Users can enter and leave the Night Reading Room through the main entrance of the Central Library every hour on the hour. Leaving the Night Reading Room outside this time is possible only after an individual agreement with the Central Library security service has been reached.

The Central Library security service can be found in the lodge at the main entrance of the Central Library (hereinafter referred to as "Security")

Article 2

Users of the Night Reading Room may take advantage of the following equipment and services:

• free lockable lockers on the ground floor of the Central Library for coats and handbags (NOTE: it is not recommended to leave documents, money, or any valuables in the lockers);
• study desks, some of them equipped with a connection to mains power sockets;
• Wi-Fi connection;
• lavatories on the ground floor of the Central Library;
• users with handicaps, who are not able to use the lavatories on the ground floor of the Central Library, may call Security (ext. 1102) to enable them to use the toilet for the disabled located on the first floor of the Central Library;
• food and drinks dispensers on the ground floor of the Central Library;
• 24-hour security service at the main entrance of the Central Library.

Article 3

The Night Reading Room is intended for self-study without access to Central Library documents. The users of the Night Reading Room can use only their own computer equipment and literature.

Article 4

The users of the Night Reading Room are obliged to keep quiet and show consideration for other users and are required to maintain order and cleanliness.

In the Night Reading Room, it is not permitted to smoke, damage any equipment of the Night Reading Room or the Central Library, or bring in live animals, dangerous objects, chemicals, or explosives.

The users of the Night Reading Room are entitled to use only one study place. It is not permitted to reserve space for potential users who intend to come later or leave the building for a certain period of time.

Article 5

In order to protect the health and property of all users, the Night Reading Room and all adjacent premises are monitored by CCTV.

Palacky University in Olomouc is not liable for any loss or damage to property incurred by any users of the Night Reading Room.

Article 6

Any comments, complaints, or suggestions related to the operation of the Night Reading Room may be submitted in writing in the Suggestions Book, which is available in the Night Reading Room. In case of any urgent problems in operation, it is necessary to contact Security (ext. 1102).

Article 7

All users of the Night Reading Room are obliged to comply with the Rules of Operation and follow the written instructions displayed on the walls of the Night Reading Room. In any cases of serious violation of the Rules of Operation, Security will intervene to secure order and protect property, health, and life according to the effective regulations and standards of Palacky University in Olomouc.

Article 8

The Rules of Operation come into force upon the signature of the director of the UP Library with effect from 1 January 2015.
