Opening Hours in October
The British Centre library will be closed on 28 and 29 October for the national holiday.
Advanced English Courses
Our advanced English courses at Cambridge English levels (FCE, CAE, CPE) will prepare you for Cambridge English exam. The courses are led by experienced and qualified teachers and combine grammar and vocabulary study with the development of the four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The courses start in October 2015 and end in May 2016.
Prepare them for Cambridge English exams
In cooperation with Cambridge University Press, we offer a seminar for English teachers led by Mgr. Jana Čadová.
On Wednesday, October 19, from 2.30 pm to 4.15 pm. More information can be found here.
Entrance free of charge, you can register here.
We kindly ask the BC users not to deface borrowed materials by writing on them!
As the number of library items defaced by borrowers has recently increased significantly, which (especially in the case of tests) reduces their utility value, we are, from September 2016, introducing a system of thorough checks of borrowed items.
All users are kindly requested to check whether the items are not damaged before borrowing.
Any items with a loan date after September 19, 2016 returned to the BC in a defaced condition will, in compliance with the UP Library Regulations, be considered damaged and the borrower requested to pay their full price.

Pretests (mock Cambridge Exams)

Placement Tests in the British Centre
Test your English skills with the placement tests available on the computers in the British Centre. The tests will help you choose the exam, course or study materials to match your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2).
The Oxford Quick Placement Test and the Cambridge Placement Test are interactive tests consisting of listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary. No dictionaries are used, the tests are anonymous, and the results are only available to you.
