Accommodation

University students can stay in one of the two Palacký University campuses, these include seven dormitories. Housing is guaranteed for students and teachers from abroad.

Most of the Erasmus+ students, who require accommodation, are staying in the Neředín Dormitory (the newest UP accommodation facility). This dormitory is located in Neředín campus max 15 min by tram to the University i.e. to the centre of Olomouc. There are just single or double rooms. Upon request single rooms can be arranged. They are, however, in great demand. Within the campus there also is a canteen, providing meals for good prices.

The dormitory provides suites consisting of four rooms (usually 2 single + 2 double). All suites are equipped with a bathroom and a toilet for every two rooms, and a kitchen area with a stove (no cooking utensils and dishes, though). Each room is equipped with beds, writing tables, book shelves and a refrigerator. Although there are no computers in the rooms, an access to the Internet is arranged and students possesing their own notebooks will not have problems to use them. Free wi-fi is available. The dormitory also provides laundry facilities, cleaning utensils (vacuum cleaner), iron etc. Bedding is provided and changed usually every two weeks. Students must bring their own towels. Each suite has an incoming telephone connection; to make outgoing calls, you need to use public telephones.

Address:

VŠK Neředín

The Envelopa campus can also provide you with some other facilities you may be interested in: apart of students’ canteen providing lunches and dinners 7 days a week, there is a bookstore; hairdresser’s services; doctor’s office; students’ club (U-klub) etc. This dormitory area is easily accessible by the public transport system, the nearest tram and bus stops are only about 3-min walk, the train station is located about 15-min walk away (2 tram stops), to get to the bus station takes about 10 minutes by tram.

Address:

Unfortunately no university housing is available for students with families. Should you plan to come with your spouse and/or children, you will have to find a private housing. The Interantional Relations Office will assist you but cannot guarantee an adequate place for a reasonable price.

Erasmus Student Network

Erasmus Student Network is a volunteer student organisation in international higher education in Europe. The organisation offers opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of SHS - "Students Helping Students."

One of the main activities of ESN at Palacký University is a "Buddy System". After your arrival you can feel totally lost, you may not know how to get to Olomouc, how to get to the dormitories. Maybe you have some doubts about what the Orientation week is.

That's why there is your Czech buddy – a friend who will make your arrival and first days in Olomouc easier and less stressful.

Your buddy will:

  • Tell you how to get from Prague's airport to Olomouc
  • Pick you up at the bus/train station here in Olomouc
  • Take you to the dormitories and help you to fill in the documents there
  • Take you to the school during Orientation Week
  • Give you basic orientation in the city, at school, explain public transportation system, shopping
  • Explain where to find the best places to have a fun
  • Help you during the semester with anything you need

Very important part of ESN is the ESN Buddy System – a group of Czech students who will help you all through the semester.

If you are interested in having a buddy, please, as soon as you receive the Letter of Acceptance, register in the buddy system MySectoin here.
