Project Aims
The aim of the project has been to improve the quality of life in Olomouc through the revitalisation of parks and invaluable historical greenery in Olomouc behind the buildings at 8 to 14 Křížkovského Street in Olomouc. The parks and garden-architectonic space span an attractive zone for tourists in the vicinity of the town centre. Thanks to their history and intimate atmosphere, the gardens on the town walls shall undoubtedly become a popular place for studying, meeting, contemplation or relaxation for all generations. After remediation and reconstruction within a multi-functional framework, interconnected and walk-through premises will have been formed, which will be open to the general public.
The remediation of the premises includes:
- reconstruction of a pedestrian path
- securing the passage between the parks – reconstruction of the existing stairways between the individual parks
- safety measures for visitors – reconstructions of fences, railings and gates
- reconstruction of the garden house
- orchard and park landscaping – calling up period reminiscence of baroque gardens – behind the buildings on Křížkovského 8 and 10, representative historical gardens in a renaissance style – behind the building on Křížkovského 12, and a Quiet Zone for the public, students and academic staff – behind the building on Křížkovského 14
- lighting
- furniture
The key target groups of the project are:
- town citizens
- students of UP and education programme participants
- UP staff
Other visitors:
- visitors to the town
- foreign guests
The contributions for the target group are:
· exploiting the potential of the premises – public access – building space for meeting, relaxation, cultural events and other activities
· educational outdoor space with a wide spectrum of possible usage, directly connected to the Garden of Bezručovy sady
· active involvement of students in the design of the final concept of the premises as well as in the individual activities
· enhancement of eco-friendly thinking and engenderment of students’ emotional connection to the town and its history
