Foreign students fluent in Czech:
The language of instruction at the University is Czech. Students enrolled in Czech language study programs do not pay any tuition. They only pay for their accommodation and meals, books, study materials and some non-refundable fees (e.g. ISIC card, application fees, etc.). The competition is quite strong. Therefore, fluency in Czech is, essential.
Foreign students who would like to study the full-time programs offered by the Faculty of Law are obliged to be fluent in Czech as the classes are taught in Czech. All applicants must take an entrance examination in Czech, one foreign language, history and civics, and they must demonstrate a solid level of general social, political and cultural knowledge. A psychological test forms an important part of the examination. For other information contact the International Liaison Office of the Faculty of Law.
In the academic year 2006/2007, the number of applicants to the faculty was 2,364. The number of graduates in the academic year 2006/2007 was 172.
Foreign students not fluent in Czech
Foreign students wishing to learn the Czech language are encouraged to enroll in the Czech for Foreigners course organized by the Department of Slavonic Studies, Philosophical Faculty.
If a foreign student (NOT Erasmus student) wishes to study in Olomouc, s/he should get as much information as possible from his/her home institution whether there is any cooperation between the institutions or not. Afterwards, s/he should complete application forms (Student Application, available at www.upol.cz/en) including the housing application and send it to the Faculty of Law coordinator to check financial, housing and other possibilities.
If a foreign student wishes to come to Olomouc as an Erasmus Student, s/he should check with his/her home institution Erasmus coordinator whether his/her University has an Erasmus agreement with Palacký University and to obtain application materials. All application documents (Student Application and ECTS Learning Agreement) are available at www.upol.cz/en – Facilities and services, International Liaison Office, including the housing application, must be sent to Palacký University Erasmus Institutional Coordinator and must be accompanied by a covering letter from an Erasmus coordinator (either Institutional or Departmental) at the home institution.

Other useful information for non-Erasmus students
Erasmus students get information about their Arrival and Departure from the International Liaison Office of Palacký University.
Information for NON-Erasmus students:
- Do not forget, that you CANNOT be accommodated at the weekend. Arrange your arrival during the week-days.
- If you are interested, a person comes to guide you to your accommodation and make you familiar with the university.
- There is always the Orientation week for Erasmus students. You are also welcomed to take part in this Orientation week. It starts one week before the semester begins.
- Take at least 3 passport style photos for different cards (ISIC, Public transport card etc.).
- You receive the Exchange Student Enrolment form where your studied subjects and grades after finishing the course are provided being accompanied by the signatures of the lecturers. It is necessary for you Transcript of Record.
- After you finish your stay at our University, you receive Transcript of Records and Confirmation of your stay and study at Palacký University,Olomouc
- The very necessary thing for every student who wants to study at Palacký University is the ISIC card which is needed for copy machines, for cafeterias, library, some sport facilities, internet access and so on. A photo and 200 Kč is needed to receive the ISIC card. The incoming student will receive the card at the beginning of his studies, after his or her arrival. If s/he is an Erasmus student, it is arranged by International Liaison Office of Palacký University by Mgr. Zuzana Hamdanieh. If you are NOT an Erasmus student, it is arranged by the International Liaison Office of the Faculty of Law by Mgr. Daniela Johnová.
